Is Click Through Rate an SEO ranking factor?

Do Click Through Rates affect SEO?

Click Through Rates or CTRs as they are called have been under the radar of many SEOs for a long time.

Some time back in 2014-15, many tests and independent researches done to prove whether or not CTRs affect SEO performances directly. Some results said, yes, some said no. Here’s some good news finally. The ever so awesome Eric and Mark from Stone Temple Consulting discusses this topic in their video, once and for all. What did they find out? Well, watch the video to figure out. (Don’t go by the title btw)

Hint: It’s not as easy as black and white. ;)

  1. Click-through rate measures the number of people who click a link against the total number of people who had the opportunity to do so. So if a link to your website appears as a listing on a search engine results page (SERP), and 20% of people who view that SERP click your link, then your CTR in that case is 20%.
