10 Tips To Get More Subscribers For Your Blog

This article was updated on August 6th, 2020 at 05:57 am

Now that you’ve set up your blog, started posting on it and have seen the few occasional visits from your friends and family, it’s time to boost it into gear and start getting more people on there. And the best way to ensure a long-lasting relationship with your readers is through a subscription model, where people get alerted through email of new content or new opportunities related to your blog. But how do you get people to subscribe? Read on and find out the 10 tips to get more subscribers for your blog!

1. Offer Incentives

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, and your readers know this. The first thing they’ll consider is ‘What am I getting out of this?’ It’s your job to decide that. What will you be offering the people who chose to subscribe? Discounts on products and services advertised on your blog? A simple, yet helpful eBook? A demo download? It’s up to you, but make it clear what the incentive is and market the subscription with it in mind.

2. Optimize placement

While not probably the most obvious of things to consider, but the location of your Subscribe box is key in getting in more people. Make it visible, make it stand out but without making it ‘in your face’ which will usually deter people from it rather than attract them towards using it.

3. Again, incentives

Well, I got something for free for subscribing. What’s going to keep me from hitting the unsubscribe button in the email? Again, it’s up to you to come up with long-term incentives for your subscribers. A simple one-time freebie won’t keep them loyal forever.

4. Subscription Pages

Some would argue that creating a dedicated subscription landing page would be helpful. And it really is more convenient, as you can share the link to the page on social media and emails, rather than asking people to look for the subscription box somewhere on the site (see tip 2 for more on that).

5. Spam it!

Well, not really. But make sure you put a link to your dedicated subscription landing page (if you have it) at the end or footer of each published article. After reading the great content you posted, people will be more inclined to say ‘thank you’ by subscribing.

6. In-house Promotion

Do you have an About Us page? Do you have a dedicated category where you’re promoting press releases, or press-related content and items? Use these pages as well as mediums to draw in subscribers. Either send them from there to your subscription page, or make sure the subscribe box appears on those kinds of pages too.

7. Make Content Shareable

We as people love to share what we like and what we find interesting with others. Same goes on the internet – you find a cool article and you want to share it with a friend and discuss it afterwards. But who’s going to share it if the appropriate buttons are not visible? Make it easy for people to share your content by putting the right social media buttons attached to it.

8. Guest Blogging

Just like with getting more traction as a blogger, you can guest blog and then ask for people to subscribe to your own blog. Share information that’s suitable for the platform you’re writing on, and make sure it draws people in.

9. Use Freebies More!

Whatever you give your readers, make sure it includes a link to the subscription page, or precise instructions on how to subscribe. Given they’re already happy with the freebie, they’ll probably consider subscribing if the offer stands out.

10. Consistency

This is the last of the 10 tips to get more subscribers for your blog, but arguably the most important one. If you’re not consistent in posting, in drawing in readers, in using social media, you shouldn’t even bother with the other steps. Inconsistency will send away people faster than consistency will draw them in – keep that in mind at all times.

Now you have a free simple tips and tricks you can use to get more subscribers. Go out there and try them out and let us know how it works out for you!
