Add Client Testimonials within Google Ads
Google AdWords has a new feature that lets you add client testimonials or quotes right within your Ads – Review Extensions.
I think this is a great feature addition, particularly to lesser known brands – it adds additional social validation to your brand.
Imagine, having your super positive client quotes praising your service or product showing up on top of search results? I assume this would be a great way to drive clicks to your Ads.
However, I can see folks mis-using this easily. Google is rolling this out selectively on accounts, so obviously they have it under control now.
Couple of things to note here.
- You must have permission from the author/client to use their quotes. (Obviously a measure to curb spam!)
- A link must be placed to the actual client website, where the testimonial/quote appears.
- Traffic to the client website via testimonial links will not be charged to your account.
I assume there will be more and more folks ready to give you testimonials this way if you are using them to feature in their ads.
Personally, I think its a great move. But brands should do their own internal quality control measures, and not do this overboard, rather stick to really valid testimonials. Or else, I can clearly see everybody trading a nice testimonial for some free traffic and at the end, nobody getting anything out of it.
