Promoted User Posts Are Coming to Reddit. But You’ll Like Them!

This article was updated on August 6th, 2020 at 05:57 am

Ads and Reddit never go together. Never did. Of course, there were Reddit Ads, but that was a very sidelined effort that had it’s own restrictions.

But, come August, Reddit will welcome marketers to bid on user posts, that’s right. According to Ad Age,

On August 4, Reddit will debut a new ad offering called Promoted User Posts, which will give marketers the ability to sponsor user generated posts on Reddit’s platform. That means if someone creates a giant replica of a Taco Bell hot sauce packet, for example, and shares it on Reddit, the restaurant chain could step in and sponsor that post. In turn, Reddit will display it in different parts of its website and target specific users that the brand wants to reach.

Makes sense, right?

Reddit Ads have seen amazing levels of engagement from the community – unlike any other ad medium. I mean, even in “ad-blind” categories like SEO and Online Marketing, ads get some amazing level of engagement from users. Truth is that Redditors are intelligent and they don’t like crap thrown at them.

This new move from Reddit will open new avenues for brands to engage with their audience on Reddit – which is considered more intelligent and BS intolerant unlike other channels like Facebook. Looking forward to some creative campaigns now!
